1. Who we are
COGS Bookkeeping provides bookkeeping services to small businesses.
Our website is cogsbookkeeping.com.
Postal address: COGS Bookkeeping, 2586 Sand Butte Rd, Pavillion, WY 82523
Privacy contact: privacy@cogsbookkeeping.com
2. What we collect
When you contact us through the website. Our enquiry form collects the information you type into it — typically your name, email address, and whatever you write in the message. We collect this because you chose to send it to us.
When you simply visit. Our web server keeps standard access logs: your IP address, which pages you requested, the time, and your browser’s user-agent string. This is ordinary server operation, not analytics — we do not build profiles from it.
What we do not collect. We run no analytics platform, no advertising pixels, and no cross-site tracking. We do not sell or rent personal information.
3. Cookies
The site sets only the functional cookies WordPress needs to operate — for example, remembering that you have submitted a form. We set no advertising or analytics cookies.
4. Who else sees your information
We use a small number of service providers. Each sees only what it needs to:
- Automattic (Akismet) — enquiry submissions are checked against its spam service, which means the content of your message passes through it
- Google (Fonts) — our pages load fonts from Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads
- Hostinger — hosts the website and its server logs
- Our email provider — carries enquiry notifications to us
We do not share your information with anyone else, and we do not sell it.
5. How long we keep it
Enquiry submissions: 12 Months
Server logs: rotated on the hosting provider’s standard schedule.
If we become your client, records relating to your bookkeeping are kept as long as required by tax and accounting rules, which is generally seven years.
6. Your choices
Email from us. If we contact you by email about our services, every message includes an unsubscribe link and our postal address. Unsubscribe requests are honoured promptly and always within 10 business days. You can also simply reply and ask us to stop.
Access and deletion. Write to the privacy contact above and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it — unless we are required to keep it for tax or accounting reasons, in which case we will say so.
Do Not Track. Since we run no tracking, there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Administrative access is restricted, login attempts are rate-limited, and the server sits behind a firewall. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care with what you send us.
8. Children
This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information.
9. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on this page.
